Foot disorders : Corn x-ray photos
corn x-ray image 1 A wire x-ray marker is taped around a corn (heloma durum) on the third toe. Note that you can not see the joint space between the last two bones of the toe. This space is visible in the adjacent toes. When there is a contracture of the joint, the toe does not rest straight and the joint space is not evident on x-ray. Here the last toe bone was tilted downward, and rigidly fixed in this position. This deformity is called mallet toe.
